Happy Birthday to Me!

LOL. I'm half dad's age now(48 VS 24). I took Jazz out bareback for the first time and she was a bit hyper but I managed, all I asked of her was a walk around the house then to stand for me to dismount. It went well. I wanted a ride first thing in the morning and since Devon broke the mounting block I knew there was no way I was going to get up on Abby. First I saddled Jody to see if he'd let me take him around the yard and driveway but he's still too green and untrained.

No pictures of bareback, sorry. I was riding not taking pictures.

Anyway, Rachel got me this wonderful blanket for my birthday and I have to share photos of it.

Don't get jealous Jess! Rachel's grandma made it, so we called her and I *had* to tell her how gorgeous it was. You are welcome to see it Jess, but you can't steal it. I'd have to hurt you! LOL.

Abby's such a good girl!!! And Jazz gets to loaf around and get fat!

What a life! My skinny tall mare, Abby get ground work this morning before she's allowed to eat, but Jazz could eat. Jazz is soo spoiled and just gets to loaf around. Abby got saddled up for the first time today and she was soo good. She's a little stiff to her right side, she wouldn't bend that way for me. And I tested her too, I *tried* to mount up but I don't have the strength in my right foot to be able to jump high enough to get up on her, she's too darn tall. The whole time all she had on was a rope halter-such a good girl. I was helping Gena(after I let Abby out), with her rescue mare, Whinney(kinda rescue, she felt bad and Whinney was emancipated when she bought her) and was giving her pointers on how to help bring Whinney back around before winter. I told her if she doesn't get weight on Whinney by winter the mare will die of the cold- blanket or not. The two of us were talking about trail riding together probably next spring, with the way Whinney's coming back so slowly, and I might possibly breed Abby next summer. It was very very exciting. Don't know how I'm going to sleep today. Yes, Jazz will still get her chances to go out riding too, but I'm working on getting an Aussie/Endurance saddle for her, she doesn't like my western, and I don't like English.

The Washington County Fair is almost over, ends tomorrow. Maybe I'll go by there for a few hours today.

Whinney to the left- Pretty Chestnut

Abby to the right and Jazzy below. Cannot resist taking pictures of the two.

Well the bunnies are all very good, I weaned Cate's two babies off and Looking for homes right now.

I might have a home for a rabbit, Comet, Cate's baby girl or Cate's baby boy. Still waiting to hear back from them.

Show coming up in two weeks, All of my Dutch are going some hollands and probably both Mini Lops will go.

Bunnies, Bunnies everywhere!

Well yesterday I had to go visit one bunny that had been bought (a Holland Lop show/breeding stock) from me last year and the Rabbit had taken a liking to attack her owner, so I ended up bringing Dawn home, (Blaze x Night Skye baby, Angelique's sister) And one of the babies she had, had to a Mini Rex male, was also very very skittish so I took him home with me as well. While Dawn I might keep and show/breed her, her son I'll find a good pet home for eventually.
I'll have more pictures and information once I go back out and re-evaluate her behavior. She was fine for me last night and this morning, but now comes the fun part of trying to figure out why she decided to attack her old owner

*Update: I don't know why she attacked her old owner, but she's somewhat calm. High strung rabbit she is. I weaned the baby and he's in with my other little ones and he settled right down as well. Maybe the other girl just wasn't paying those two enough attention? I can't be sure.
Though Dawn's an incredible amount like her mother, it could have partially to do with her moody behavior. As for the baby boy? I don't know yet. Still thinking of pet homes and a name for him- Any ideas???? I've got alot of boys names covered already. He's got a white nose and one white front paw (Was thinking Paws, but that doesn't sound too nice)

More Horses!!

She is considered a medicine Cap Horse. She's got one totally blue eye and one 1/4 blue eye, it's kind of weird. I'm hoping to have some decent weight on her by winter, something about the guy i got her from does sit weird with me, mostly in how can she be THAT skinny if he was graining her twice a day. Even the thoroughbreds on the track don't get that skinny. And the way her knee is and everything, I've been watching her move, she can still trail ride once I correct that bow-leggedness and put some weight on her.

And Jody's the youngin that I've worked with since he was a year old, he's 6 now, and still not completely broke to ride. I started him with a saddle at a year and a half old and he's okay with a saddle, I let someone get on his back with he was 3, but still, to this day doesn't take a bit. No trainer will let me put him in a bitless-said it would ruin him, so I'll just lay on his back every once in a while or I'll put my rope halter on him and go for a walk around the yard and driveway. He's such a good boy, I kind of wish I could buy him from Gena only so I could put him in a hackmore and do whatever I wanted to with him. And just so you know, I did not take that picture, Rachel did when she couldn't find me, she came out to the boys, (You can see Eeyore and Dakota's feet under Jody) and found me just laying with him. Ahh well, it's bed time for me but as per the request, I got more pictures of Abby up to see. I'm actually kind of thinking of breeding her over to a Bay Quarter Horse across town and raising the foal to ride. Not sure yet, have to talk to a vet first.

New Horse!!!

I got a new horse on Friday, August 8th. Her registered name is Coy Abby Rose, aka Abby. She's registered with the American Paint Horse Association and the Pinto Horse Association of America. I got her for a friend for Jazzy. Her knee is messed up on the front right.

First night I had her outside, I made sure that her legs were wrapped just in case Dakota tried to kick her. But the next morning she moved into the feild with Jazzy, Beauty and Spudley. Abby lacks social skills with other mares right now, but Spudley's teaching her. She likes Spudley but Spudley didn't take too kindly when she tried to beat up Beauty and Jazzy, chased her from the herd and she's asking her way back in, which is a good thing. She's by far the tallest horse out there now, at least 16 hands.

She's two days shy of a year younger than Allen. March 10 1989. She's a bit skinny right now and she's on Glucosamine for her knee and she's moving fairly well. I think I'm going to bring in a corrective shoer for her, I'm under the thought that if she has a little extra on the outside of her hoof, it'll help correct the bowlegged look that she has in her walk. She's certainly a dominate mare, and Jazzy's is very recessive so I think eventually the two will be able to be friends.

Rachel thought it would be amusing to catch pictures of me kissing Abby and kissing Jazzy.

It shows the heigh difference in the mares

*Smiles*

Abby's color-her wraps, halter, saddle pads and her buckets will all be in hunter green, whereas Jazzy's are purple (or as close to purple as possible)

I do the wraps myself, it was something that I was taught in school and it's for protection on her legs. Jazzy got kind of got into a tangle with the rams since Gena won't keep them penned up in their own pasture and it rubbed or ripped alot of her fur off of her hind right leg, she was in for a day or so to let it heal up.
The bunnies are all improving, and I just got a chinchilla colored Mini Lop Doe to go with the buck that I got months ago, Floppy.
More pics of Jazzy and Abby to come tomorrow. I've got some nice ones to get off Rachel's camera of Jazzy or Spudley touching noses with Abby.
