Little things

Well little to everyone else. Aunt Lisa and I caravanned back, with dad's and my pickup trucks, making it in late Wednesday night. It was a VERY long drive through Penn. It's been dubbed the Contruction state now!

Anyway. Thursday I got the rabbits cages put over into the chicken pen, we will get the tent garage up for them shortly.

Today I went down with Uncle Jim to feed the sheep, all but Clarissa came in to eat, and fed Larry L.

Jazz's eye was hot this morning, a tell-tell sign it's getting ready to swell up, it's the right time of year for it to happen so she's stuck with her fly mask on, and her eye medication-which she absolutely hates- every morning. Oh well, at least she doesn't have to lose her eye this way.

Getting There . . .

The bedroom is a disaster zone, but by Saturday night, it will be basically empty. It's got to wait a day or so, I pulled a muscle in my back(right side, right behind the shoulder blade) and I couldn't really move yesterday. I'd rather let it heal up a day or so before I try packing and cleaning.
Here's the picture I took a while ago for Jess of the corner of mom's room, there is actually a floor there!

And Magic, while at the time of this post she's happily sleeping, I learned a few more things at the vet's office. Her laryanx wasn't opening fully, that's why she couldn't breath. WIth her age, it would have been too difficult a surgery to fix and with her hips, it wasn't even worth the try. I stayed with her until she feel asleep, scratching her head. And still for a 14 year old dog, she had damn good teeth, that still amazed the vet how good her teeth were. We did something right at least, she never did get the training she needed, but I was young and a bit naive. But she got to say good bye to 'her girls'. Allison took it harder than the kids did. I felt terrible for doing that to them. I shall always remember her as the dog that I made many mistakes with but it was worth it!

Sorry this was such a sad post, but I'm actually fine with it. I came apart worse when we put Starbuck down, and he wasn't even my horse!

The rabbits are getting there, I've hosed almost half of the cages and the others will be done, between Saturday and Sunday. The morning we leave I will be hosing every tray before they get stacked in the truck.

Before and After shots of one of the 'doubles' which my Holland Lops and Mini rex are in. Can you tell it's molt season? I can't remember which Holland was in that cage, I think it was Gabe. I've got a pair of dutch girls in one. Poppy, mini rex doe, is in one of the other cages because she's bred. If she keeps the babies through the move it will be wonderful, if not, I do have months to rebred her and get a live litter from her, and Lana(Gray Dutch doe) is bred along side her for Rae. I'm holding her because Colby is the one she's bred to because he throws the best looking offspring out of all of our dutch bucks(Rae's and My own), but Lana belongs to Rae. I can show her in the spring if it's before Rae gets down to get her, I don't mind, she's going to hold a mini rex baby for me(Blue otter too!).
Well I promised to help Rae with her homework, the best I can. I can't guarantee I'll be that helpful in History.

Last NY Rabbit show!

Well Cobleskill was the Last rabbit show of the season for me since I'm moving. I took 9 Dutch with me. It was a double show. While show 'A' didn't yeild very much for me, just a lot of comments of promise. Show 'B' was very sucessful. It's all in the judge was what I was told, and it seems to be true.
My Steel Junior doe came in second in both shows, lost to the Same Steel senior doe in both shows.
Syd (Gray Junior Buck) was second in show 'A' and Best Opposite Sex Variety earning a Leg towards Grand Championship.
Coyote- Syd's brother, was fourth 'A' show and third 'B' show.
Sam was the only Blue senior buck in both shows so he was best of variety.
Amita was second in show 'A' and third in show 'B' as a blue senior doe.
Mimzy was first in show 'A' and second in show 'B' as a blue senior doe, she's Amita's daughter.
Josie(Actually Rachel's rabbit, but still Amita's daughter) was third in show 'A' and first in show 'B'.
my black and blue junior bucks were both very promising, I can't remember where they placed but wasn't first off the table, and not first place.
Neena was best senior tort doe in both shows, but she was uncontested, and she took Best Opposite sex variety.
All in all it was very good day. At least Syd should have won me a little money, and a leg. Neena might, depending on the number of rabbits entered and number of exhibitors. None of the blue did.

If all the research that I've done down in Kentucky, and talking to Mr. Brown, there aren't a lot of Dutch breeders down in Kentucky, so the competition isn't so stiff, I should be able to do better down there than I did up here.
I forgot my camera so I wasn't able to get any pictures. But I'm really ready to continue the condition them all winter and show in March, April or May down in Kentucky near Lousiville.

THey're on their Way!

Phoenix and Jazz left this morning around 7:30 am. It was hard to watch them go, but I know they're going to be in a safer place tomorrow. They got sent with their grain bin tucked up front and everything.

It's a bit of a big trailer, four horse slant load and there was already one horse on, it had to have been some kind of draft mix with the legs on it that I could see, and it's nose! He made Phoenix look tiny, and he's 15.3 HH. They're going to Ohio, Indiana and then to Kentucky on the 7th. SO between 24 and 36 hours on the trailer, but they'll be fine. *sigh* Now to pack the rest of my horse stuff . . .

Almost together!

Truck cap is in place here at home, I had to take it back off my truck, it needs cleaning the windows are VERY hard to see out of they are so dirty. I'm going to try to find the time to wash them tomorrow, soo much to do tomorrow(Saturday) and so little time.

A couple of pictures from the Washington County Fair, and we went to the Dog Agility which is run by the mother of one of Allen's high school classmates, they raise Australian Shepards, but these two little lovely ladies caught my eye, the one almost reminded me of Satan, almost the same size and body structure similar to Satan and Paige. Blue eyes and it was a Blue Merreil(I doubt I spelled that right), not Bi-Blue. The little Sable was slightly taller than Piper, but she's also still young. The other picture is from the K-9 Search and rescue team. One pure bred German Shepard, One HUGE purebred black lab(He weighed in around 120 pounds) and a Black Lab/German Shepard mix all from different zones in the area. It was an awesome show, the mix search and rescue dog, the lab/shepard mix, was also an agility dog, very smart dog. In the picture of the Shepard, you can see the black lab in the background, laying with the lady in white.

And Last but not least, my two today after their feet got done, they were surprisingly very, very calm despite the almost 90 degree day and the fly spray not working for anything. Eventually I'll learn to trust my judgement with them. I was expecting alot of fight with them getting their feet done because of the flies, but they proved me wrong again! Tomorrow is bathes so they are clean(er) for their long trailer ride, an so they don't make Heidi yucky either.

Again no pictures

Well sorry I haven't been around much, but the router decided to crap out on us, so my desktop is the only computer with internet right now. I had to run the system recovery on my laptop, I must have gotten a virus that Norton couldn't get rid of- thankfully everything was safely on the desktop so wiping the laptop wasn't an issue. But all my pictures are still on the camera from Nikki's Going Away party, the animals, and Washington County Fair(just animals and a few from the Gymkhana, no tractor pulls they were all wayyyy too blurry thanks to the shaking bleachers.
I'll update it as soon as I get the laptop back up with all it's stuff that's currently residing on this computer. I'm buying a new, decent router today . . . ode to joy, now I get to install it. . .
