Did a few things today.  Scrubbed BOTH water buckets and filled them both.
Aunt Lisa, I picked up a 6 pack of those green scrub pads, if you want a couple of them?   I'll end up misplacing them before I use all of them, though I almost wore one out today scrubbing both buckets and the black rubber tubs!
Big bucket getting filled.  I pulled Heidi and Phoenix to my side this morning, I wanted to wait until that back corner was done before putting Bahloo over with them as she's hard on fences like Heidi is, but Heidi doesn't stray from Phoenix, whereas Bahloo is very independant!

After the corner was finished, it started to sprinkle, but I was able to get Bahloo over in with Heidi and Pheonix.  I got some rain drops on the camera so the pictures came out slightly fuzzy looking.

I also got all 4 of my black rubber buckets scrubbed and upside down to dry out the inside(haha, I know they won't *dry* in the rain though)

Eventually, yes, the flymasks did come off-right before I went inside.

I also took some pictures of both New Zealand litters, and the 3 dutch litters this morning
Xena's brood:
2 on the left are does, the other three are bucks
Juliet's brood:
2 Charlies, 2 blacks, 3 decent/heavy marked brokens 1 light marked broken.
Also another Alex litter
Kylie's 2 week old band:
7 Blues!
Keisha's 1 week old band:
4 blacks, 1 blue
Anna's newborn band:
4 Steels or Grays, not sure yet.
And I was at Lowes today, picking up the nails for the fence stretcher posts and I took a quick walk out to the fencing to pick up some floor wire for Keisha's cage, and saw this:
I paid WAY more than that for 1 inch taller Red Brand.  I saw this and thought about the fencing around the Roark's barn and for Aunt Lisa and Uncle Jim when they fence down the other side of the driveway.  I think it's 30 or so bucks cheaper than the Red brand 48" at Tractor Supply.  So it's not red stranded at the top and it's an inch shorter, will that make much of a difference for the sheep and cows??
Dad should have a blog post on the corner fencing post, I took some pictures for him while we worked!

Buns and Ponies

Blogger has a new Look!!  WOW.
Anyway.
I wanted to show Aunt Lisa the two babies that I had kept out of Bree's litter.
Instead of calling her Karley, I had forgotten about the calf being called Carly, I went with Kortney(she's got K4 in her ear).
And like the two of Kate's babies, this one has the better temperment, but I much prefer her sister's body and head type but she's much sweeter!
This is Zelda(Z5).  Much prettier in color, much nicer in body

And the two ladies together.  I'm going to keep Kortney until I see what Juliet x Alex throws(2 more days!!!).

Here's Anna pulling hay out of my hand for her nest.  She's due on the 25th with Syd babies

Aunt Lisa, here's a picture of Alex's ear!!!  He wasn't happy with this Tattoo, but this one looks good!

And Kate's granddaugther- Xena and Alex's daughter.  She's got no name or anything yet, but Clayton has his eye on her since he saw the litter, he wanted a daughter out of Xena and he liked her marking.

And a few pictures of the horses.
This was from earlier this week:

Today I pulled Heidi and Pheonix and put them in my pasture, Bahloo was bullying them yesterday, so I let her be by herself today for a little while.

So after the day away, I put the two back in with Bahloo and some running around persued.

Aunt Lisa went to Liberty to pick herself up some gates and I had her pick me up 2 6 foot gates to put in the barn to seperate the hay side from the run-in side of the barn.  I will have to redig the hole for the post as it's not centered enough for the gates.

When I stopped by Lisa's today to say Hey, I helped her feed Shelby, Libby and Abbey (the little lambs!I fed Shelby!)  It was fun, I haven't bottle fed since Yogi was still a bottle baby.

Hand grazing pictures

And the finished front gate to the barn!
Dad and I had to raise the front gate up about 4.5 inches so it would clear the ground and actually open, we did this on the 16th.  The top of the gate is about level with the top of the fence.

Today was just a tired, lazy laid back sorta day.  Still waiting for some rain so the grass will grow(and less dust), the horses are scrounging for grass to eat and are still picking at the hay, so Dad and I took the trio out back to Alfie's to hand graze for 45 minutes or so.
Dad took Bahloo

*ps I have  no clue what he was pointing at

I had Heidi, but I also walked Phoenix back and looped the rope around his neck, I know he won't run off.

Not too shabby for 28 years old . . .

I had let go of Heidi for a few pictures.
I had dad take a couple when we got them back into our pasture, it's just so shocking at how big Heidi really is compared to the others.

Me showing dad the whole thing with the canine's- how Bahloo doesn't have 'em, nor Phoenix.  Couldn't get a picture of those canine teeth(Heidi's the only one with Canine's)  but now dad has seen them!

As you can see, Bahloo's legs don't look horrible.  day 2 of the MTG treatment and they do look awesome!  I scraped what I think is near the last of the bumps off today so a few more days of MTG and then let the hair re-grow!
Still trying to get it to rain, thinking this time I'll just open a truck window and leave it open for a little while-hope that entices mother nature to rain on us.

Sad pony update

Bahloo's legs got clipped   . .  .  I didn't want to do it.  She's been loving the pond and it's mud fever or scratches, so I had to dry her legs out- meaning the feathering had to go . . .

Just look at her black legs from the pond.  This was this morning before I learned it was scratches/mud fever.
So her legs were clipped, betadine scrubbed, air dried and then MTG rubbed in to help her legs.  I'll continue the MTG for a week and then allow the regrowth of the hair.

This was after the shifty clip job on her legs.  Dad was good enough to hold her while I clipped.

The fronts aren't too awful-nothing noticeable from this distance.

But the back legs- uhg, the fur came off horribly . . .

This is the pile of feathering that was trimmed off.  IT filled a walmart bag- I about cried doing it, but it was for the better of her legs.

Just Heidi and Phoenix Pic spamming here.  I had Heidi out hand grazing for a little while in the heat of the day-hence the haltered pictures.

I had to get the two together so I can compare sizes again!  Gosh I forget how big she is.

Munching in my pasture.

Bahloo's bath!

No pictures of before or during, I was getting too wet.  Bahloo apparently doesn't like to stand tied for a bathe.  I wore almost as much shampoo and water as she did.
I chose to braid her mane  to keep it going down to the one side
Her legs just wouldn't come clean.

There's something going on with her back legs under her feathering.  Not exactly sure what it is.
I'm hoping it brushes out and leaves the feathering alone.  I'm going to see if it'll brush out, if not I'll have to clip her legs down short like Hickory Lake kept them.
