Slow and Steady

With Drifter off at the Warner's 'farm' Bailey has bloomed a LOT more.  She comes, eats peacefully and moves about the field all on her own.  She still hits and runs into things but she's slowly starting to gain her bearings.

Pony update

The girls have now officially been cleaned up!  They've got some slow progress coming.  Drifter lost a little hair as I combed out the rat knot mess she had in her mane and a couple brush fulls out of her tail.  I fear they'll both lose a lot of their tail(and manes too) as they get healthier.  Similar to the bad brittle hair that Bahloo had and I ended up brushing her tail practically half off and shaved her mane off.  I really do wonder what she looks like now though.  Bahloo was so pretty!
I see Bailey's flanks filling in and she's starting to grow in some decent fur and it's actually black, so she'll be a black pony with chrome!  Her eyes, she does rub them, they itch at least the one eye does.  I've searched for more of the terramycin to put in her eye, just like I did for Jasmine.  Then try to find an old flymask to get that over her eye to keep the direct sunlight out of it.
Drifter's eyes have cleared up, their pee is still a bit darker and thicker.  but she should be ready to go once she fattens up some more.  I'm going to have to find some local round bales that can be delivered because the lack of tractor to get them out there without sinking in the mud is an issue!

Rescue ponies

I had a wild day on the 4th at work.  It seemed like every time I came out to break and turned on my cell phone I had a new voice mail.  First break I got a message from 'L' as I'll call her, an old co-worker of mine.  Lunch break, a message from Sandy-which about gave me a heart attack as she's Spencer's mommy (My brain insists on calling her Sara) and she does watch Heidi as well.  I thought 'oh crap something's wrong with Heidi!' and after she said no don't worry everything's fine, Perry has a question for you, call him back when you get a chance.  So I spent my lunch break talking to Perry.  He's going to be out for a few days and wanted to know if Sandy or I (or both tag team together) to do the night checks on the horses.  No big issue, 8 or 9 pm go in pick stalls real quick and toss them some more hay.  Juan and Victor will do the rest.  Sandy doesn't live far from there and I figure if Aunt Lisa and Uncle Jim don't mind the company I'll just hang around over with them until it's time to meet up with Sandy to do stalls.  No biggie.  I meant to call her back today- Oopps.
Anyway, back to the first message, 'L' has these horses dropped on her a month ago, she thought how hard can it be and decided to keep them.  Finally realized that she couldn't afford to keep them called me and asked me if I could take them.  I said, sure, bring them here and I'll find them good homes.  Well they're in VERY POOR condition  Body scores of 1 and below 1.  The one that I'd put as a 1 is the cremello mare.  I was told 16 years old.  The -1 would be the dark bay or seal mare, blind with what I assume are cataracts.  She's the walking skeleton and 4 years old.  No words to describe how utterly disgusted I am with people that don't give these horses up sooner so they don't end up in this kind of condition.   The cremello is Lady- originally Old Lady, the dark bay/seal was SpitFire and I'm working on a new name for that lady.
