Merry Christmas!

White Christmas!  A HUGE difference from last years 60's and sunny Christmas?

Willow was enjoying every second of it.

And the curse of having a draft horse . . .  Ice balls on her tail and leg feathering.

Even little Stormy has some ice balls on what leg hair she has.

I am contemplating shaving her leg feathering off this weekend.

It was super cold but I got out my bibs and stayed comfy while playing outside in the cold and snow.

Just a quick update with lots of pictures

Pictures are in no particular order.
Cricket is getting along nicely in the pen.  She's much happier now I *THINK* anyway.

The newest rescue in the barn.  He was an owner turnover at the clinic with a VERY bad eye.  Monday (7th) he will have his eye removed and get neutered. I will have the eye sent off to check if it's cancerous because I am afraid it is.

Happy 7 months old Stormy!  She's HUGE.  She's barely nursing anymore, which is good because Heidi needs her to quit and I have no way(nor desire) to force a weaning.

But it was a sunny gorgeous day today to be able to play with the ponies.  I don't get to play much with them during the week as it's almost dark by the time I get home.

Retirement Pen work

First thing was to clean out that corner since all the horse stuff was going to have to get stacked into the corner

Then it was boot the bunnies into carriers clean off the mat and dad cut the 2 x 6's to fit and he screwed them in.  He suggested the little slats to help hold the wire framing up.
Then it was set it all back up and put the bunnies back inside!  Upon the loss of Natalie last weekend, Cricket moved her way into the pen and they have all settled back in together.  Took a few days for them to comply with each other.

Fencing- again

Dad wanted to work on the fence this afternoon so before(and after) feeding Drachefeld we got the corner post stood up, a brace post and two bracer's put in for the corner!  We are going to try to put in the other brace for the gate post so from the power pole to the backyard gate will be ready to be re-strung, unless I change my mind to replace with all wood posts!

Our Supervisors for a little while at least!

We used my truck to winch the post back up.
And Dad admitted- I was right!  LOL

And we learned don't try to store concrete bags for a longer length of time.  I had one bag left from like 18 months ago that I had been storing and I don't think it will ever be right.

I think it looks pretty good!

Also- I think Stormy has outgrown her next up size nylon halter.  This is the 'Colt' size for 500-800 pound, it was the next size up from her foal halter.  It is on it's loosest holes.  I still want to try the next size up rope halter, 'horse' size, as well.  I have time for that.
