Making Ground!

Yesterday was really rather uneventful.  It rained off and on most of the day.  I did get to go through the bunnies see who's going to make the cut list and got Heidi's black tag on her leather bridle.

and YES we Trotted!! She's got such a long big trot!  But she's comfy!
I tried posting to keep her going but we were both hot and tired.  It was a bit too hot and humid.

You can sorta see the bridle tag if you blow up the picture.  It's black with her name on the out facing side.

I was SOO happy and THRILLED to get her to trot and hold it for the little length of time that we did.  I pulled her back to a walk because we were getting sweaty and I knew I didn't have a lot of time to cool her down before I had to go with dad to drop the car off at the shop!

Day 2 of some fun!

I started out today by going up to a swap meet.  Took 12 baby dutch with me and only 6 came home not too bad considering how late I was!  I was the last to show as a few people had started to leave, and I was most certainly the last to leave!
Someone was set up there making/engraving the 'dog' tags.  So I got two circular ones for Heidi's bridles.  One side just has Heidi on it, the opposite side has my cell phone number on it.  A purple circle for her nylon bridle, a black circle for her leather bridle.  The silver heart tag I have will be for her halter as soon as I order her one!  It's near the bottom of the list she's got her big draft halter that does fit her for the time being but it already has a tag.

Then I saddled up Phoenix for a stroll around.  It let Heidi run the field and kick up her heels, she was disappointed it wasn't her that got to go out.  Maybe tomorrow we'll try her again depending on how the weather holds out!  It felt strange to be back on Phoenix, like I had no horse under me.  He's not as wide as Heidi in anyway shape or form. He kept wanting to take off into a canter, but I wouldn't let him go faster than a trot then he gave up and I just guided him to the best clover spots and let him eat.  I was amazed  that Heidi's old bridle was able to shrink down enough to fit Phoenix.  I didn't think the brow band or the nose band would ever fit so I didn't bother at all with them.  Dad came home and I got him to snap a few pictures real quick before I got down.  I figured the old man was getting sweaty enough under the extra pads under the saddle.

Then I put the spray coat over the Jody and Dakota models so now all that is left to do is put the gloss coat on the hooves and eyes.

Fun weekend ahead!

I started out my 5 day weekend in some good fashion!  First thing I went down to Lexington with mom to Hobby Lobby and let her do her grocery shopping.  I had to meet with a guy that was looking for some Tort dutch does.  He brought home 2.  He got the 2nd choice doe from Della's litter and the first choice doe from Hope's litter.  He'll be against us at Frankfurt this fall.  It'll be nice to see how my sold babies compete against their litter mates!
In Hobby Lobby- I spent way too long and way too much money in there.  I had only intended to get one thing.
I loved this scrapbook, I almost got it, I really wanted it!
 A SUPER cute smart car

And yes that wind up thing in the back actually turned around as it was going.  It was really cute!
Then I got home and went for a ride- HAD to test out the new bridle and see how Heidi did with a flash on.  We went in blue, Heidi looks snazzy in blue as well as purple.

And Connie was waiting for her pets when I got all done!

Minor pictures from Vacation

I'm just going to OVER load the pictures, and I'll try to explain them as I'm going:
Michelle, myself and Rachel taken at Landmark Motel- where we did a 'girls night'
Went here in hopes of finding bridle parts and pieces, other drafty things for Heidi- sadly they were a disappointment, no draft horse stuff.
I got HOT DOGS that I'm coming home with.  2 packs for dad, 2 packs for jess and a small brick of cheese for Allen.  I was very pleased with the haul I got there.
Stopped by and saw Gena and the old farm-boy do I miss it!
Stopped and saw the Neighs, all but 1 of the kids are present.
The old house, it'll only be there for another week or so.  They sold the trailer itself and it's set to move soon.
Cindy looking in on Chase, Michelle just got Red and Keiffer settled for the night.
Michelle and Keiffer.  He's certainly her pony- like Heidi is mine.
 Red and Chase
 Leaving Argyle Saturday night!
Sunday was down to meet John, the critters(and non furry kids) and visit with Kylie

Logan:
Miss Amber on a close up
Kylie hadn't been out to see her in a little while and had some fun
Even got over the cross rail
Then I got on for a little bit.  Oh how it made me miss Heidi so much!
At least Amber let me love on her, I relaxed some.
I did posting trot with stirrups!!!

I did even trot without stirrups.  Kylie's saddle and stirrups were VERY comfortable- but I guess that's what you get with a $3500 saddle that's custom fitted for your horse.
Here I sit in a Quality Inn, much thanks for Allen, relaxing, updating but we saw this as we got settled in.

Lettuce Gone

Well yesterday was a slow day- oh heck everyday is a slow day when it's that hot, humid and hazy out!  But later in the evening when the sun had disappeared behind the clouds we pulled up the lettuce so dad could mow and till it's area.

I didn't get any pictures of it tilled up afterwards.  I was still too wet from bathing the horses.

After their baths they were much cleaner and cooler.  They've been covered in sweat for days and doing whatever they could to get the sweat off of them- including rolling in the drainage ditch.  So quick baths and I kept cold water to them until I felt the shoulder and haunches start to cool down.  I also braided Heidi's mane down to keep it up off her neck maybe keep her neck a tad bit cooler
