Using one to fix another

Well, I went to a liquidation sale last weekend in hopes of find a nice deal on a newer laptop. No go the deals weren't great, so I took some of my tax return and got a new one(Only thing was the Vista that had been holding me back) Vista lost the battle of the wills with me and I'm getting used to it now. I still have the Dell Latitude C610, I'm trying to set it up so we can sell it on Ebay or I might sell it to a friend that doesn't have a computer at all.

the one on the bottom is the Toshiba Satillite, my new one. The top is the old Dell. The hindges on it are going so the top doesn't stay in one spot, it has to basically stay on my chair. We're going to fix those with some from another dead Dell. I've got two new batteries coming in this week so That should bring it back into working order again.

So far so good, waiting on batteries and the hindge replacement.

The horses and bunnies are good. The bunnies: I rebred two holland does, one is due this weekend(hopefully she won't kill these ones) and one due in two weeks and This time I bred Kitty for dutch babies due this weekend. I've got one holland doe that I'm boarding that is also due on Sunday.

It got to almost 50 today, so the horses were out without their blankets again.

As you can see Phoenix has put his weight back on, Most of it I put down to the higher quality of feed he was getting. Since I paid for his feed, I got him the best quality I could. As you can tell from the photo's of him and the one of Cami, you can tell Phoenix has had the better feed. Cami's not putting the weight on that she could have with a different feed. I don't feed the same stuff Gena does. I have Agway Superior, she uses Purina Mills(Senior for both, Phoenix's 24 and Cami's around 27)
Well I shouldn't compare, my two get lots of love, attention and excercise. I don't give her 6 as much, Cami gets the most from me and that's not too much. Oh well, anyway, lots to sleep to catch up on and it's 2 am.

New Saddle and frozen water pipes

Well, the automatic waterer froze up-again- and I finally was able to get the tractor to get over to dump my big water bucket- which was very frozen full of water.

This is the result:

As you can see, it's not tiny, you can see the tractor's bucket on the side.

HAHAHAHA

Here's the new saddle, it's not new, but it's in very good shape. Nice 18"

Here's Jazz with it, no girth yet:

Finally outside again

Phoenix couldn't have been happier to go outside this morning. A bit confused; he stopped turned and looked at me, I had to actually encourage him to go away from me.

Hoof underside looks really good too. It was a small bruise/abscess. Not that the picture is very good, but it's in the lower left(of the picture) if you can see and determine the contour of the bottom of his hoof.

He's got some good hoof growth going too. Good thing I've got the farrier coming out this weekend. It's still a bit too cold for me to be able to get his feet done myself(and I'm still not fast enough, I'd rather he didn't have to put that much weight onto that foot for me to trim.) It was almost 50 out today so I let them out without blankets too, I don't want them to over heat, blankets are for when it's below freezing.

Cami's been absoluetly a doll, she's stayed inside with him through the whole mess so he wasn't alone. She was also glad to get out this morning. Jazz, I tried with her Saturday morning but she's too high strung to stand in a stall that long- heaven help if she ever gets an abscess.

Poor old boy

Well Phoenix got a nice Emergency visit from Dr. Legends today and had a chunk taken out of his hoof to drain the abscess. Now his hoof is blue vetwrap and he's stall-bound for 3 or 4 days to keep it dry and clean. The soaking is great fun! Half hour in epsom salt twice a day!
Thankfully he's a seasoned Vetran and he stands very very well for the soaking. He only fought a few times because of the temperature of the water- the farther along the cooler the water the longer he kept it in. He's got a huge hole bore into his hoof to get to the abscess and open it up to drain it. Dr. Legends says its from a bruise that got infected, probably from the hard ground. Though to expect at least the other rear to do the same thing, because it's quite possible.

The babies have started to jump in and out of the box at 13 days old, a few days younger than I expected. The guys that bought them were happy to see them out of the box, 3 more weeks until weaning and another 2 after that until they go to their new home.

Shouldn't go to Walkers

I really shouldn't go there. I mean I got Jazz her new blanke- her old one was tearing thanks to Jody, and Everything, but we just wandered around for almost 2 hours just looking. I was eyeing the Breyers but naturally I didn't get any. Shameful actually. I wanted to get quite a few of them, Ruffian, Spirit, and Rain to name a few but I just drooled at them.
This one will allow her to bring up her head when it gets very cold and the outer shell of the blanket freezes into place. Her old one didn't. Sorry the picture is soo bad but it's just a bit dusty in the barn so none of the pictures ever come out that great. Not exactly healthy for them to hav e all that particulate in the air, but that's why I don't keep them in everynight. Also why I don't reccomend sand floored stalls. Sand is fine, so long as it has the rubber stall mats on top of it. The sand is meant to help keep the stalls drier, not be their floor. Oh well, can't talk sense into someone that won't listen.
