So technically yesterday was pedicure day but I was too tired to post last night. Michael helped me get a halter on Stormy (my little foal sized one I got at Equine Affair many, many years ago for Dakota, then Bo) and we trimmed her feet. It was haltering that was the problem, she was fine with him picking her up feet as that is something we have worked on. Michael said he had a break-away foal halter- it was Tessa's- he will bring me Monday and I'll get it on he rand can leave it on her as it will break if she gets caught on something. I am hoping that he likes her enough to want her. I told him he is next choice so until I get a firm pass from him. I've got months still, she won't be weaned for another 3 or 4 months. Today she is 4 weeks old.
Noticed a lump on Heidi'sright fore leg. Not sure what it is, but she's sound on it so I am leaving it alone for now. Just going to monitor it.
Stormy's got some thick legs on her. Not going to be as thick as Heidi's but def some substance!
Stormy wasn't too mad at me after the haltering and feet trim, still came back for her snuggles and stractches

Heidi, Stormy and Tessa update
Mostly just pictures, but today I was able to just slip a halter on Stormy. Been a week worth of brushing her and she just comes right up to me in the pasture.

Foal has arrived!
All in all it's been a stressful experience. I am not cut out to raise foals as I see the bad side of the spectrum at work. I would wake up at night hoping nothing was going wrong, and just overall sleep like crap but now that it is over I hope I can sleep really well and not fret.
It was a gorgeous day for Heidi to foal out on. Got up to 80 degrees (little bit too warm) but sunny and dry almost all day. It wasn't until late in the day did some strong storms roll through and I hadn't had the time to get the cattle panels and tarps to even see if my idea would work to make a canopy for them to get under. Heidi has been a great momma, super protective of the baby with Tessa, but has let me do what I needed to with the baby. I am a little worried about Tessa being in there with Heidi and Baby (who does NOT have a name yet) but hopefully they will all settle down soon. Part of me wants to keep her but in order to do that Tessa would have to find a new home. So I am not sure yet what is going to happen. She is rather cute but am I cut out to raise a baby horse? No idea yet.

Horse life update!
STILL waiting for Heidi's foal to arrive. I went and borrowed some corral panels from Aunt Lisa, intent had been to make a square, but I used the panels I had borrowed from the bottle calf last summer as well as the ones I got today and make a circle(well best my imaginative brain could do). Heidi willingly came in and I am going to start feeding her in it to keep Tessa from stealing her feed. Also plan to square it up a little more and using Cattle panels and a tarp make a roof over for her. If it works I will buy some of my own panels and make it a more permanent thing this way Lisa's panels don't get bent up.
Heidi's got a pretty good sized udder started.
Tessa got as close as sniffing the edge but that was it. The panels made her nervous. She will get over it with time I am sure.
Totally not in order as these are the sunrise this morning.
