Poor Truck

Well I'm vehicleless for a few days, I'm driving dad's little car to work for now. No pictures, I wouldn't want to embarress the truck, but it's sitting at Saunder's transmission, getting a new rebuilt transmission. It got started today, so that's a plus. From all the records that we went through on the truck, it never had a new transmission put in it; according to Saunder's that was the pickup truck model's problems was their tranny's went at 100k miles. If the records are correct(which I firmly believe they are) This tranny went 254k before it gave way. They said they've only seen 2 or 3 of them that went that far and so far mine's the record holder (plus for the truck!) Dad and I agreed it was better to fix the truck than to trying using that money to buy a little car and leaving the truck to sit until spring when we could try to fix it ourselves. I'd probably had fixed it anyway, it's my baby I adore that truck! (It's well loved Uncle Jim.) I'll take a picture of the nice pretty shiney transmission when it comes home(which could be as early as Friday!) I got off lucky with it, not elecrical until the 1993's and it's not 4-wheel drive- both would have raised the cost of repair substantially- heaven forbid it hae been newer and 4-wheel drive. This repair is only $1565 but that puts all my other plans onto the backburner until that's paid off. *Sigh* oh well, there's always other times to travel and play.

More Horse info and Pics!!

Well the two got turned out today and Jazz wasn't allowed far from Phoenix, he just wouldn't allow it. Dad finished brushhogging the feild down- I'm scared of the tractor(be the only motorized thing I'm afraid of) Phoenix and the other boys don't quite get along yet and I want to get his shoes off before he mets them, cause those will make more of a mess if they decide to fight.

For complete information on Phoenix, since I was requested. H'e 24 years old, I'm getting his exact birthday soon. 15.3 HH solid Red Dun Appaloosa(Yes I know, there's no spots but he's a registered Appy cause both his parents were Appy's). He's a real sweetie. Jasmine is 15 years old, approximately 14.3HH Bay Arabian. Both as I have noticed tonight when I was bringing them in, both have no leg markings and have 'star' markings on their forheads. Phoenix's is more of a cresant moon and Jazz's is an upside down, backwards tear drop. She's got a white dot on her lips too- a snip mark, but it's not really noticable.

This information is for Aunt Cathryn, I asked Kylie what the difference was between 'D' ring and 'O' ring snaffles was, Cause Phoenix can work in a 'D' ring, but for showing he needs a Kimberwick (someone was rough with his mouth and hardened it when he was younger). The 'D' rings are a bit stronger and work well on hardheaded horses with softer mouths instead of getting a harsher bit. Well I'll get more pictures and information up next weekend, it's time to start my work week.

Phoenix Has Arrived!!!

Phoenix made the journey with dad and I today(well really it was dad that did all the hard work) but he's here now and I just have to get him a new bite, I forgot to grab his bridle from Kylie. Opps. At least I know what kind of bit he uses.

Dad's truck had a good work out today. It had a few troubles on the uphills, V6 with high gearing just wasn't made for that kind of hauling. It could do it but it didn't like it. Once I get my truck set up to tow a trailer like that in the spring, my truck will do better cause it's geared lower-as dad told and explained to me.

Rabbits!

Well there really actually isn't much to say, my babies are getting older, bigger and the two Hollands have started to hop around the cage, still waiting for the dutch babies to start hopping out of the box-another week. The holland babies are changed color more too. The only proper thing to do is wait until they're three weeks to be able to get true color and sex. Though for my best guesses, the grayish one is a boy and the other(Blue tort, but also starting to look dark sable point now) looks like a girl. I'm fairly good at sexing them, not as good figuring out the true color.

Well I've also gone Garage-Saleing this weekend. Argyle TownWide is this weekend. I found myself a nice little 6-gun, gun cabinent that just needs new locks and a little work. The wood is scratched and chipped in a few places, but I could sand it and re-stain it and Dad said we could change the locks. $10, so now I can put *my* 257 Roberts (Not quite mine, but close enough), my shotgun, Allen's Shotgun and his 22 and I think dad's going to put a fwe others in the cabinent, once Dad and I get it fixed up. It's pretty, nice artwork on the glass front.

A new one runs at least $300 that I have found, so $10 for this one wasn't bad, and now Dad can take his other guns out of their locking cases where he's got them.

Update with the horses too, Abby's got another person coming to take a look at her today, I can't keep her, she still doesn't like Jasmine and since Jasmine was first, she stays- and not to mention she's my baby. Abby's such a sweet heart, but she needs a more appropriate home. Jasmine has already met Pheonix and the two got along back then, so they should now. I've got one more person to ask about borrowing a trailer to go pick up Pheonix, and if Tammy let's me, I'll go get Pheonix next weekend.

I'll miss Abby, but At least she can be in a good place, besides in my heart. Also hopefully she'll stay in the fence there. She keeps going through the fence at Gena's, I took this picture on one serene morning that the two were leaving each other alone, and Spudley was standing right behind me lipping my hair- and the camera cause it's shiney.

Eventually I ended up putting all eight horses into the one feild and Abby and Jody fought for dominence, both got a little bit beat up, but Abby seems to be the one on top. Jody took chunks from Spudley's neck because Jody wanted all the mares for himself and Jazzy stayed with Spudley. We've got some nice fall foliage and I'll get some pictures today/this week of it and post them next weekend when I'm not working.

Horse pics!!

Well I forgot to add pictures of Abby and Jazz! Silly me. Well I bought them turnout rugs at that last auction. $20 each. Jazzy's is perfect, if not a bit short (her fly sheet was a 69", but the rug needs to be 71" or 72") Abby's sheet, though I measured her at 82" and those are 84", they should probably be 78" but for that kind of price I wasn't arguing really. Abby's is green with blue trim and Jazzy's is Blue with Green trim. Normally I kind of fight myself for blanketing, especially this early but it was very windy and almost 30 last night; Jazz has scrapes on her hips (from rubbing) and Abby's still thin so I didn't want them to get chilled.

Boring three weeks, kind of

Well it's kind of been boring up here, not much going on. I'm getting a gelding, and if Gena won't allow me to keep three horses, Abby will be the one that goes. I'm getting a 15.3 hh solid red dun appaloosa(he is a registered Appy) gelding named Pheonix, once I get the money together for a trailer(tis only $250) and go get him, he's down at Kylie's still. Kylie just can't afford to keep him. I keep telling her she's got to move north, she's too close to NYC and board's expensive down there ($600ish a month)

Well I bred out my blue dutch doe to the blue buck that I sold(Larry), and she finally produced, 6 beautiful blue babies. I can't wait until they get older and show them. I'm hoping Cindy and Rachel bring me home a new Tort Dutch doe from NY state convention (Which they are at today.) They said if they could, they'll be bringing me home a blue and a tort (both does) but both are going to be Grand Champions so that I can get some really nice stock to work with, Can't tell that my dutch are my favorites, can you?

And the pictures of Skye's two Speedle babies, one is a solid Blue and the other is a Blue-Tort, they are Holland Lops. Skye is Solid black and Speedle is broken Blue. They are almost two weeks old, now and 7 days older than Amita's babies.

The solid Blue is the one that is looking into my hand, the blue tort is the one I got to face the camera, I think. They've changed in color alot since I took these a few days ago, not to mention gotten larger. I've got better pictures of them on my camera, but I haven't downloaded them to the computer yet. I'll get them up soon enough.

I'll also get pictures of me and Pheonix from when I rode him with Kylie back in college, up as soon as I get them off of my tower and onto the laptop. The tower's going to become my juke box for now. I've got to rearrange stuff so that I can organize the two computers and get Office put back on the tower permanently.

Just another couple of weeks

Well I had a rabbit show in Cobleskill, NY yesterday. I took almost all of the dutch(missed my tort buck) and they actually did fairly well. Neena, my tort junior doe did the best with her mother, Kitty, doing the worst. The two blue's that I brought were mediocre along with the two blacks. I sold a holland brood doe, I'm weaning down to 4 bucks and 4 does by winter (I hope) and leaving room to get another dutch doe.

Naturally I came home with new ones. A blue Dutch buck and a blue Mini Rex buck.

For those of you that don't know the difference, the Dutch have the white markings, they need to have specific markings and Sam's are very good compared to my present Blue buck, Larry. So when Larry's babies with Amita are born, I'm keeping a doe from that litter and selling Larry on to another breeder to start their own herd.

The little mini rex buck is only 8 weeks old, he might lighten and turn into a more Lilac color or he might darken and go a good blue still. He's sharing a cage with Dylan, my Holland buck baby right now.

Dylan is doing wonderful, he looks very very promising, I can't wait to start showing him.

He's incredibly friendly and *loves* to play with you.
