Fence work revisited for the upteen time!

If it wasn't for a few fence leaning horses my fence would have been fine but since I have/had fence leaning horses I have to redo fencing.  

Anyway.  The old auger motor was shot, so dad found and picked up a new one that came with a 6" auger blade(black shiney one).  It also bolted right up to the 8" red one off the old broke down auger.  

So we wanted to test it out, then finished 4 holes and got posts in and concreted in.  

The concrete got a little hard after sitting outside in the dump cart.  Little Herman had to come out and help us get it broke up to be able to mix it up.

Dad and I are tired.  We haven't had to do fence work in a long time.  Hopefully it's a short painless fence repair work.  

Not much going on

Had to take advantage of the some what drying mud and sunshine to hop on the mares today.

 So at home siting on Heidi.  

 Though she still doesn't understand steering with the halter on. 

 Then took some stock of the rabbits.  I learned that yet another Kentucky rabbit breeder (raises Dutch and Mini Rex) have decided to sell out.  Makes selling out a high option.

 After looking and mulling over rabbits I sat on my mounting block and took some pictures at full zoom for the little camera.  Not too bad. 

Then Willow came outside to play in the sunshine as well.

I am sad, my draft size rope halter has been chewed on or something.  I don't know if I can replace it or not.  

After going and picking up the auger-which is still in my truck until I know where it's going to get repaired, I decided to keep working on my roping skills.  I decided to use one of my jump standards.  I got close a few times just have to figure out how to get the rope up higher.  

Willow was watching me rope.  Completely unimpressed

So close.  

Dad also finished the long lines I had wanted to put together to try some ground driving, both ropes are approximately 25 feet long.  I bought the clamps, clips and the 50' rope and dad assembled and cut the rope for me.   

Horsie update

I have been just bareback halter riding the girls on and off since late December actually, but mostly in January.  It's always been in the pasture since the ground has been too wet to do much.

Heidi's getting heavier, I am estimating 10-11 weeks left until the foal is here.

Stating to get some substance to her teats

She is LOVING the new mash dinner she gets.  I am soaking about 3 quarts(fully soaked) of the Timothy grass pellets and giving Heidi 2/3rds of it, Tessa 1/3rd of it.  To help extend their hay and to help supplement as it's not the best horse hay.

But you can see her big belly.  I really hope for a nice healthy foal.  It would be nice to have a filly for Nelson, but a colt wouldn't be terrible either as that is what Michael would LOVE!

Just hanging and going along.

Slow going time. Working, sleeping and otherwise chilling out. 

Old ladies got a BIG pan put in their cage.  Still trying to work on litterbox training them, so hopefully with almost no rubber mat and mostly shavings or pine pellet they will get more used to it. 
For almost 8 year old does they are doing great.

January 28th instead of going fishing with Uncle Jim, Dad and Logan, I stayed home and rode both horses.  

Tess I didn't really *ride* just sat on her bareback in the pasture after riding Heidi down to Harry's.  

 Now it's just a play with a camera kinda afternoon- after brushing the mud off. 

Willow has been feeling left out of things, she's been having too much fun running and jumping and getting muddy.

Slow time

So been a slow few months honestly.  Everything is just rolling on by. 

Big girls have been doing well.  Harry has already dropped 3 rolls of hay total out there for them, and I need to get back down to him to pay for some more. 

The bunnies have been well, as well.  I have had a few little litters, but after the long extended heat the bucks are just not ready to breed.  So the litter numbers have been small if they exist at all.  I got the plastic all up on the barn to help with the cold and winter weather coming in. 

Also took some quick snaps of the flooding from the 3+inches of rain we got coming into December this year.
