Hay run, Heidi and Stormy update

So this morning was a go and get a big load of hay.  100 bales.  I had to borrow Aunt Lisa and Uncle Jim's truck and the BIG trailer to get all the bales home.  Same guy I got the 20 from but this was one of the other farms that he did hay on.

Lisa came with us to help us keep count of the hay and hopefully next time I go to get hay we can get some for her as well for the sheeps spring lambing season.

All backed in and ready to unload!

That is about 105 stacked in the barn, I am hoping early part of August to go and get another 100 bales.  It will totally fill the barn up BUT it should hold me through the winter.  I still have to get over and talk to Eddie and to Harry and see what I will have for rounds for winter.

The hay looks fantastic.  It's basically the best or second best I have had so far!  Very glad to pay $5 a bale for it!

Stormy is so adorbs.  She is eternally coming to me like Heidi does.  She's her momma's daughter for sure!

She even gives me hugs when I sit down out there with her.

Blogger goofing

So for some reason Blogger is not letting me upload pictures so I'll just type for the time being.

Stormy is growing by leaps and bounds.  She's big enough now that when she rears up against Heidi, she can get her hooves across Heidi's back.  It does explain the mud in certain spots, I thought Heidi was just getting lucky where she rolled in the dirt.  Heidi is still a bit on the thin side so part of me is thinking about adding back in some mare and foal feed.  But a large majority of where she is thin is her top line.  I am still thinking about what I am going to do come fall and weaning time.  What am I going to do, I need to get back to just 2 horses.  So things are going to get a little confusing over the coarse of the next few months.

The pasture has gotten dry, very dry and  yesterday so I went ahead and washed my car, with dad's help at the quarter place down in town behind Dairy Queen.  It looks good!  I planted the store bought Basil plant, weeded the herbs, lettuce and green onions then watered them.  I was hoping to make it rain yesterday since this morning I was planning on going and getting 20 bales of hay to hopefully hold me for a while longer until I can figure out what I am going to do about the hay situation.   SO Today after getting hay I had intended to go with dad and go fishing- instead we waited out and dodged storms all day instead.  Next weekend is a Drachefeld weekend so there goes fishing there since Slate Creek in Howard's Mill is closed off.  No idea why it's closed but who knows anymore.

I am still working on trimming back rabbits but as usual nothing is selling.  I have seriously quit spending a lot of time with them because I spend a LOT of time with Stormy instead. I just want her to grow up as a good little horse and I feel like I am not there enough during the week.

Still no idea why Blogger will not let me upload, I will have to check into my settings or something.  Anyone got any idea, that would be great!

Jennifer's visit!

So first thing this morning I wanted to try to give Stormy another leading lesson.  Haltering was easier than last time but leading.  Let's just say it didn't go so well but found a spot to end on a good note.

So we got some good scratching down and I left her halter on for the day.

So Jennifer came for a visit after that and the girls all wanted to ride the horses and play with the bunnies. I didn't get any pictures before lunch, Bryan got those.  Stormy was interested in the girls and I *think* two of them got to touch her.

Lily loved it when Jennifer let go of Tessa and she was riding on her own!

Jennifer was dying of the heat.  I don't blame her I was too!  Those neoprene boots of mine can rack up some sweat!

Natalie loved riding around on her own as well.  Heidi follows me really well, except when she was getting hot and tired herself!   Neither mare has had anyone on their backs since February so they were super stars for me today!
