Nice day for a Ride with my cousin!

Aunt Anne and Marianne had come over to visit for Halloween.  Dad and I went over to Aunt Lisa's to visit with them on Saturday.

Charlie just made a good target to take a picture of, he's such a pretty boy!
On Sunday Marianne and I took Phoenix and Bahloo for a ride.  We got Marianne's girth right the first time, Pheonix doesn't puff up, Well first time- I goofed- Bahloo's as bad as a pony when it comes to puffing up!
Try number 2 worked a lot better
Bahloo's still working on shaking her memory clear on what she's supposed to be doing.
Us girls chatting, I was pointing out the 'haunted' pond out back in Alfie's back feild.
Looking about, it was a niec day for a stroll in the sun!  Bahloo's looking at Tessa running around like a nut in her feild.
Me coming up to dad to see if he or Aunt Anne wanted to get on.

Tessa's looking better- losing weight still.

Day 4 was a Horsie Day

I tried Pheonix's new rain sheet on him for the rain shower this morning.  Fits good!  He enjoys it!

Also tried Bahloo and Cathryn's Saddle on Tessa to see if it fit her.
It fits her good so now I know what kind of saddle to aim for.
After dad left to go to the auction with Aunt Lisa and Uncle Jim, I tried to see how Tessa was under bridle.
She let me mount but doesn't understand what I was asking of her.

Here she is modeling her bridle!  I put her bit into Jasmine's old english bridle
Then after cleaning one bunch of rabbit cages, I took the camera and sat out in the feild with Bahloo and Pheonix.

Tomorrow we have bunnies to butcher, I have the rest of the cages to clean and then tack to also clean and get oiled.  Maybe a quick ride on Bahloo or Phoenix if time permits

Day 2 of the exciting 5 Day weekend

This one was the Portsmouth RBA show in Piketon Ohio.  It was a very tiny show, smallest I have ever been to in my whole career.
I was one of 3 Dutch show folk.

These two pictures are of the room, my back is to the little cafeteria area that had the food.  It was actually really pretty decent food too.

I sold a Holland Lop doe for $35 and then in turn bought another New Zealand doe.  The guy had decided to sell out of his broken New Zealands so I took advantage of his 'lower' prices and got this little beautiful doe for $25.  She's not really related to my doe/buck and or to Kate either.  They do all share one common ancester but it won't be that big a deal.
Side shot
 Top shot.
And he was my best rabbit today.  My tort Senior buck- Colby Jr.- he was born at Lisa's and he was best buck, and came in Best Opposite Sex to a Black junior doe in both shows- lacking only because his coat wasn't fully back into form.  The second judge said if his coat had been in shape, he'd have taken Best of Breed.  Dang it!  Next time!

Great start to my 5 Day weekend!

First thing's first, I was attempting to try Cathryn's saddle with Bahloo, but I need to oil the straps so they are more pliable.  BUt since I couldn't get the saddle to stay put I went bareback, she's WAAYYY taller than I remember.  Up to my nose when I'm on the ground.

She was a VERY good girl- Huggy for the pony!

These are the two dutch does I picked up Court day Weekend:

The tort doe is Marie- she is going to the show tomorrow, not the worlds best markings but very nice none the less.
The gray doe is Sabrina, has a nice saddle, undercut and stops, cheeks are a bit high, and she's missing two back toes- so needless to say, she's a brood doe not a show doe.  If she hadn't been missing those back two toes I'd have shown her tomorrow as well.  Right now, I've got 4 dutch going with me and one Holland doe going for sale, if Lisa's going and bringing Rosie Then that'll be in the last hole, if not the Fuzzy Holland buck will go for sale as well.

Very Busy Saturday . . . .

Definently not in complete correct Order . . .

MoJo definently has the right idea here: SLEEP!
But this was later this afternoon, during the Yard-sale.

But my morning started at 4:45 when I got up to make sure I was awake by the time the shipper got here around 5:30.
He got here 5:35.  Bahloo was walked around the front yard and got some probios into her gut.  Probios to add the extra micro organisms to her gut to make sure her transition is as smooth as possible.
I got her into the feild around 6 am, let her off her lead and just walked around the feild with her for 45 minutes.  The pictures are dark but they're there!

Then later on in the morning I went back out to feed her breakfast and take some more pictures- I was told to take PLENTY of pictures- that isn't a problem for me!
I had given her a good grooming, with some show sheen to add some oils to her fur to make it soft and shiney and some hoof conditioner since her feet looked dry to me.
She's still lacking the Cowboy Magic detangler for her tail since I don't want to give her a good bath with it being this cold.

I'm thinking of slowly moving her diet to Nutrena SafeChoice with some added Rice Bran Oil for weight and fur conditioning.  Jasmine *LOVED* the rice bran oil, she'd lick her bucket clean-not that Bahloo isn't or any of them for that matter, but the extra oil will give her the extra calories to help her gain a bit more weight and keep her coat shiney.
The rabbits interested her, she would stand there and watch them over the gate for a while.

As for Tessa and Phoenix:
Tessa's gotten wayy over weight again on just the grass so this time I put a grazing muzzle on her for the day.  boy is she pissed at me.  She got it off her muzzle once, then I tightened it up a hole and she never got it off again, but she's still mad at me.
I took it off at the end of the day, as the sun was starting to set.  I had Bahloo over to touch noses with them and that was a bit interesting.  Tess and Bahloo seemed fine with each other- both in heat, but that can't be helped, but Pheonix on the other hand was being protective of his 'herd'-Tessa.  He wouldn't let Tessa near the fence and tried to chase Bahloo away, only for him to get smacked.  So tomorrow I'll take Tessa away from Phoenix and let the two mares in together and if that's kosher I'll take Phoenix out of the big feild and put the two mares in it together and leave Phoenix by himself for a few hours and then let him back out with the girls!

And Court Days . . .
The pictures won't upload from the Laptop so it'll just have to be words.  Sheri had gone through Courtdays yesterday and saw that someone had Dutch out for sale.  Not pedigreed but from good stock- a judge out of Ohio- so I had to go check it out.  I've been needing another blue pair and a tort doe.  Well I got my tort doe, but the blue's he had just were not impressive looking to me so I passed on them, but got a Gray doe instead, that has awesome markings!  I got them home, clipped up their nails and found out the Gray doe is missing two of her back toes- there goes any notion of showing her! Oh well, the Dutchies make soem VERY good crockpot bunnies. . .

Well, not much going on. . . .

Just to keep it simple, keep it neat.  I had the lady call me today, while I was over visiting Aunt Lisa and Uncle Jim and tell me she couldn't make it out today to see Tess, so I'm thinking for right now I'm going to hang onto her, hopefully free lease her out to Megan for a year or so and just keep my eye on her and see how she progresses.  She's starting to come up on her pasterns so I know she's gaining strength there- just how much will she gain???  If Meagn and Tess work well together come spring when she's actually allowed to start looking for a horse I'll give her option to Tess, it may work out good for her in the long run anyway.
But for now Tess is staying here with me.  She must have knocked her ankle on something because one back leg is puffy and warm, so I rubbed it down with liniment for the evening.  She's still moving on it and it's not seeming to be causing any pain to her so I'm monitoring it, liniment and if it's still puffy come morning I'll get a wrap on it to help it.
I took the camera out for the afternoon and just took some pictures of everything!
MoJo laying nearby while I played with Ezzy's litter

Ezzy's litter!  1 black, 1 seal and 2 Sable points!
Naturally the black and both sable points are males and the seal is the girl
Now onto horsie pictures!

Tessy's starting to come up on the pasterns not alot but some is better than none.

Such a pretty head!
Puffy ankle!
I love his shading, Duns and Roans are so lost on me.  I just love the colorings.
'Whatcha want?  Can't you see I'm eating?'

Pony Ride day

As much as I would have loved to have gone fishing, I had made a promise to the kids:

I moved the horses back to the Roark's feild today since it's well past ankle deep and thick and I didn't want them to drain down my feild too far.
The only picture of Tessa:
She's definently fat enough, she won't be seeing anymore grain.

Then I waited until 3:30, thinking Mathew would be off the bus by then, to grab the bareback pad and collect up Phoenix.  Both kids sat on him until the bareback pad started to slip, then Abby ended up getting off.

Nathan sits so tall and straight!  Future Horseman???

But Phoenix is his horsie, er rather his buddy.

ThenI actually got Dawn to get up there, took a while for Nathan to actually get down.  I got Phoenix to trot with her and she was tickled!  She said she hasn't been on a horse since she was 6 and she's at least 5 years older than me.

Then after Phoenix was getting tired I put him back out to pasture and we sat around in the setting sun and just watched the cat be a looney-toon.  This is the hole in the porch of Jason and Dawn's little out building. MoJo's figured it out!

Shepardsville Kentucky Rabbit show!

Well I know I don't update much about other than rabbits.

I decided against the Xenia, Ohio show on Sunday as I had no one to go with, Megan said she could dgo to the Saturday show in Shepardsville, KY if I was going to that, so I said, heck ya!  Go with a buddy and go to a smaller show or go to the big show by myself?
Buddies are wonderful!

The room isn't terrible big, it's a small show.
Megan and her 8 week old Netherland Dwarf that she bought.  I picked the baby out of the ones the guy had for sale for what I knew what was needed for a Dwarf, I just don't much care for such a tiny breed.

This is the little dutch buck I was given, he's out of my own bloodlines and he's got a color spot where it should be white so he's not showable, but He's got awesome ring pattern and a wonderful disposition.

Megan's chair and her carrier with 3 Holland Lops and 1 Lion Head.
My two carriers.  the 4 dutch I brought are on the bottom.  I brought the Fuzzy Lop to sell, but he didn't sell- only sparked a little interest.  My little dutch that I got is on the other side of the carrier from the Fuzzy Lop with Megan's Netherland Dwarf.
This is just a random shot of the English Spots, the bests of each color, they were still judging.
Megan wasn't looking at me, but this was the Youth Holland Lop judging.
