Demolition Gang

Well One project we had set aside for Allen to help with when he got here was removing what 'closet' I did have, it made my room odd shaped and I wasn't using it as a closet- I have a dresser.
Allen and Dad removed the wallings to make my room square-well I think it's rectangular, but you get the idea.

You can see the marks in the ceiling where the walls had been, I have some minor touch up painting to do in the spring.
The view now from my door, you can actually see the window!  It feel bigger in there as well.  Very nice. . .

Then onto the horses, we had that cold rain and Pheonix got chilled, so I actually had to pull his thick heavy blanket out one night for him.
Can you tell I woke 'em up coming outside?  I was earlier than normal, usually they are awake and waiting for me.
 Afternoon nap time.

Not horrible shots considering the little camera did them, but could have been better had I turned around and gotten the big camera from inside.

Big day, busy day!

SO we had BIG plans for today.  I moved the horses back to the Roark's pasture, put Yogi and Bevis outside to allow the barn to air out, dry a little and give the calves some play time.  Also to put more hay up in the barn.

Yogi trying to eat some of the grass that is left.  There is hay out there, but they'd rather try to munch the deadish grass. We did watch both drink the water, so we know they're drinking!

Yogi enjoying himself!

We took both trucks over to Donnie's for hay.  25 bales on each truck.

We did back up to the barn with both trucks to unload.
No, we didn't get stuck, two sat on the tailgate while the third drove the truck right out of the pasture.
Plenty of hay and if I get worried in late January or even mid February, then I'll call him up for another 50 bales or something.

. . . and it goes all the way up to the ceiling!

Bevis and Yogi sharing the grain after coming back inside.  I spread some hay to give them a drier floor to stand on.
The horses happily munching their hay after coming back to their pasture.

Happy Birthday Old Man!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PHOENIX!!!!!!!

He's a ripe ole age of 28 years old today!
Still chunky for an old man!!

Model, Pony, Calf and Bunny Pictures!

Well after Southern Lights last night with Uncle Jim and Aunt Lisa, Tonight was really slow paced and calm.  So I painted instead.  I've been meaning to finish these models for a while.
Tessa:
 Phoenix:

And for Aunt Lisa's amusement, Yes, even my models have 'cloths' Starbuck and Jasmine only have those stable blankets, while Tessa's got a Breyer Weatherbeeta turnout blanket.  Her blanket is for chip resistance until spring when she(and Jasmine) can be sprayed for chip resistance.

So okay, go ahead and laugh! LOL.
I took a few quick pictures of Bahloo and Phoenix while cleaning rabbit cages, both were happily munching their hay down.
It was warm enough outside(55 or so) so Phoenix had his blanket off.
Then I went over to give Bevis another PenCil shot and I wanted to watch them to make sure they were eating and drinking something other than just the milk we give them in the morning.
After being slobbered on Yogi finally wandered off, drank some of the water, grabbed  a mouthful of grain and then started to munch hay.
Bevis wouldn't leave me alone, had to keep trying to suck milk out of anything he could get his lips on.

Then onto the baby bunnies:
This is the young doe with only the two kits.  The kits have such tiny short ears, they look like dwarves. You can see Trixie's girls in the background.
 And Trixie's boys . . .

New Bunnies and New Calves in the barn!

Dad and I both were out and about today.  He went for some calves that will eventually make it over to join Morty once we get them weaned off the buckets of milk.

I sold my velveteens so in turn got a couple more dutch does.  The dutch are more up my alley anyway.

This one is Blackberry, she, like Keisha, lost a litter to the cold, but they were ready to sell her anyway, so she came home with me.
This one is Ebony, she's got one jr leg towards grand champion and they have several of her daughters in their barn so it was time to move her on, so she also came home with me.  Both blacks with other colors behind them so hopefully I can pull the other colors with my colored bucks.

Now onto the calves!  When I got home, I pulled dad's truck out of the pasture with my truck and then I went in to feed the smallest jersey calf, since dad couldn't get him to drink.  I took a few pictures while I was there.  Not bad I paid $250 for all 3.
He's the biggest and we'll wean him off the bucket of milk first, he's, if I estimate about Morty's size and by far the oldest, like 11 or 12 weeks.

He's my favorite!!!!  The smallest around 5 weeks.  He'll be mine to feed, he's still using the bottle but he's the only one.  I want to think of a name for him, he's a little doll.
The bigger jersey calf and I think we've decided Bastard Larry is his name.  He's the agressive eater and does like butting for more milk.
Ended my day tired, covered in calf slobber, a little bit of bunny spray/pee from that stupid new zealand red buck that's going to die shortly because he bred his sister.
The ponies will be much happier back on their side with a water trough with a heater in it!  No more frozen water bucket!

Lovely Rain, and Baby bunnies!

Well fo rone this jumps around, safe to say that first.

This is one of Trixie's babies, she's had an eye infection, most likely from getting something in the eye as she was  developing, she's blind on that side-you can tell her eye is all white.  It's clearing some now, but she doesn't see on that side.

Trixie and her babies, she still has all 8.  She graced me with 4 boys and 4 girls.

Phoenix in the rain today, he's kind of muddy. .  . Okay a LOT muddy
Bahloo doesn't look quite as bad, the blankets hold onto a lot of filth.
So during the couple hours it wasn't raining, we went and got another 20 bales of hay, there's 35 and a half bales there!  As soon as I can put another $60 together in a week or two, I'll be  going back for another 20.  Rather to be safe than sorry, I can always use the hay for the rabbits over the summer- they love building their nests with it.

These are the accident babies, the lone surviving duo of the 8 she had.    They are 1 week old today.
After we got done with the hay, it still hadn't started to rain yet, so I grabbed Bahloo real quick, attempted to get her cleaned up at least enough to see if the bridle fit with the new holes.  Fit's nicely!  Of coarse as I was putting it on her it started to rain, so snap a few pictures and let her go back out to Phoenix, who was screaming and running around.

Well short and sweet update

Roy, the guy that came out to check Tessa yesterday, came back today to pick her up.
Here's the last pictures taken of Tessa.
Roy and Tessa clicked.  When he asked me how I was with her, I was trying to avoid sounding like an idiot and he was the one that came out and said that 'we just didn't click-it happens'.   Well at least he understood me and the way I thought and talked horses.
Roy and Tessa clicked, it was nice.
She absolutely LOVED Roy, as soon as he got out of his truck, she was calling to him.   A.Lisa even remembers the horrid time we had trying to load her at Micheals onto Nelson's trailer, twice.  She walked up to the trailer with Roy, nuzzled him, he stepped up onto the trailer, and shook a bucket and up she hopped.  No problem what so ever!  GAH.  What a little witch!
But pretty girl is with a man that she loves very much, very clearly, she didn't even call to me, Phoenix or Bahloo as she left.

Well no pictures to post

I got my purple Nylon draft horse tack, and I tried the the bridle on Bahloo and  . . . .

It's too BIG.

Thankfully being mine and nylon I can burn holes to make it smaller.  I tried it on between rain showers.

Around 4 pm Tony came out today to check out Tess.  He's made me an offer that I think I might take.  I was able to get on Tessa since thankfully it wasn't raining while Tony was here, and I got gross and nasty, but we might do a 50% hay 50% cash deal for Tessa.

I also got one bunny sold today. He's one of the last 3 lop earred rabbits one more buck and a doe to go!
THinking of bunnies, there is one more show I'm looking at attending- Wilmington Ohio, it's 2.5 hours north through Maysville and I'm thinking 5 dutchies to bring with me.  Trying to find out when my other 4-holer will make it back to Kentucky so hopefully I can bring some New Zealands with me as well.

Anyway, More pictures this coming weekend when I go riding, it's time to get ready to go back to work.

Horse world update

Technically the saddle racks were put up yesterday, but I got the picture and stuff today.
When I get my english, I'll get another wall mount and put it up above my western.

So today, since I was on this side, looking for my last Nylon bridle, I decided to get some new Pictures of Tessa for her flyer, I takced her up with the bareback pad and got her moving, she's really coming around into great shape.

Eventually, since my feet don't fit in the stirrups on the bareback pad, I took that off and we worked without it.  At one point I did get up on her but she still doesn't understand what I want of her and I don't know how to teach her or tell her what I want.  It's a green horse, unexperienced trainer combo . . . We are at an impass.

Thanksgiving

Okay, I know Uncle Jim and Dad have already beaten me to this but I figured I'd get a couple pictures up that aren't already up on one of the other blogs.
This was the turkey after it fell apart.
Turkey, mashed potatos gravey and you can see both stuffings.
Black Eyed Peas, Collard Green and deviled Eggs

After eating A. Lisa and I went out to finish up chores, the girls came outside as well.

The other nice picture of Paris.  Rachel likes this one over the other one . . .
 Darryl and his 'girls'
 Special sheepies
Paige watching us . .  .
