Paris Swap Meet

First off, I'm sorry, I had both camera's with me today and I didn't take a single picture!  I took today off to go to the Paris Swap meet at Tractor Supply and try to sell the last of the bunnies I'm parting with to cut my numbers WAAAAYYYYY back.  I brought an older dutch pair, a velveteen buck, 3 English Spot babies, 4 Mini rex babies and one little mutt rabbit I had rather randomly.  I sold everything but 2 English Spots and 3 Mini rexes.  It wasn't a bad day after all!  I have 4 empty cages and I handed out my business card to a few that are going to come look at the babies in nest box when they are old enough to go.  I'm already hoping I can get to the fall Swap meet and I was told the second Saturday of every month there's a swap meet at the Paris stockyards, so I might start going to that just to start getting rabbits moving some if I can't sell them at shows as JR's or can't get to any more shows due to work.

As for the horses, I am still trying to figure out what is going on!  Phoenix still isnt' shedding out, I was suggested to try some of the Focus Sr.  So I picked some of that up and started him on it today.  I got over there to feed today, and he's got a lump under his neck, near his chest and a huge scrap on the side of his neck.  WTH?  Goofball old man is really clubbing himself up!  I had to go find Tessy's flymask, she had taken that off.  I pulled it off the bard wire fence in the back corner and put it back on her head.  I think I might go back out this evening and try to take them off for the night and get some salve on Phoenix's neck.  They didn't do anything crazy or durastic during all those severe storms, but now that it's nice outside?  Yeah, beating themselves up.  They've got fly bits all over them, I have to order their fly sheets soon.  I have to measure Tessy first for hers, I know what size Pheonix needs.  Maybe they won't look like huge bug bits.  I tried putting Freedom 45 on them and it seems to not work well- at all on Phoenix and Tessy it doesn't seem to faze her either way.  She's still getting fly bits, but no where near as bad as Phoenix.  Them I can get some pictures of here shortly when I go back outside.

Flooding of Howards Mill

These are all from Howard's Mill.  I dared to travel it today to see how bad the water still was a day after all the rain.  The guys driveway is somewhere under all that Water.
He'd need more than a boat to get across that now!

We turned around last night before this point, dad's car couldn't go through the water that was there, but it's lower today.  Only 8 or so inches deep if I took a guess on the depth as I drove through it today, behind a silverado.  He eventually turned around.
Looking out the side as I drove through.  That's supposed to be a cattle pasture, not a lake.  I promise.  I went slow but not terrible depth there.

This is Slate Creek.  It doesn't normally go that high, but the bridge was dry.  Thankfully there wasn't many people around as I was able to stop in the middle of the road and take pictures.

I was more hesitant at this spot.  The truck coming on I had watched go past where I had backed into a driveway to wait go up the road and then I came down to it when the silverado truck I had been following had backed up in the next driveway and turned around, going back to avoid the water.  He wasn't daring the water.  I was still thinking about it.
This guy had gone through it once and then came back.  He was a Kentucky State DOT dude-in a Ford F150.  He talked to me once he got up to me, and told me he'd wait to make sure I got it all the way through but so long as I stay slow and let the truck idle it's own way through.  I made it, but boy I wouldn't do it again!!!  Very nerve wracking!

New Camera test pictures

So I took a little of my tax return to spend on me and bought myself a new-er digetal camera. I'm hoping to dabble back into doing Weddings again and just do a little side work for people and events. I gave Allen the budget of $300 to work with, he got this camera at $269 plus shipping to him, then shipping to me~ of coarse it *had* to come in the day after dad and I left NY to come home with the Buick.  So Allen had to ship it down to me, after he played a little with it.

Must love new toys.  I brought it with me to Easter dinner tonight so Uncle Jim could play with it too.  I know he likes playing with new gadgets and things.  Must'nt deny him his fun.

But since we were there for dinner, I played with the camera afterwards and took some pictures of the girls, The ones of Paige were my favorites.  Paris didn't seem to like it and Piper stayed with mommy, Satin's came out odd looking because of the way she was laying and I was sitting.

I know!  Lenny had to get a picture in there too!!!

These are from this morning with the little digetal camrea.  I love the pictures of Tessy with Pheeny

 Can I say Gorgeous Face????
as for Pheeny, well, he still needs to finish shedding- the joys of getting old!

Major Horsie Update!

Firstly these guys have been having a heck of a time with the severe storms rolling through.  They haven't been liking not having a barn.  Oh well, they're getting wet., we thankfully haven't had any hail .

Tessy's the first horse Phoenix has let eat that close to him, though she's only cleaning up what he's dropped.
 My cute pair

The next 6 pictures are from when I had Tessy out under saddle in the front yard.  Granted I didn't go far or stay on long it was just long enough for my hip to scream at me and to see Phoenix pitching a fit across the road because he was alone.

I love, love, love my Tessy baby.  Thursday we shall do this again, but this time Dad on Phoenix, and we'll see if we can get around Alfie's barn in the back, keep it short until my hips and legs get used to it again.

Meat Pen Buns, new Brood doe, Aragorn getting ready, Storm working

Very busy day, and hopefully productive.
Dad and I drove down to Irvine to pick up a couple meat pen bunnies that dad wanted for a trade deal he has going with a buddy of his.  I'm giving Trishy a couple months off before breeding again.

We stuck to all does for now, these two are in with that satin mix that I picked up after being told it was a californian x new zealand cross(which she isn't, she won't get that big) These two does are in with that other mix doe as the first 3 to the meat pen trade.

They had one black, 4 whites and 1 smutty red there so I took a quick look over the little black doe.  She's got good shoulders and a thick hindquarter so we shall see how she grows out.  If she doesn't grow out decently, she'll go into the meat pen and I'll wait and find a good doe from a show.  I'm still learning how to body type the New Zealands for the good large stock breeding body.
I got Aragorn  ready for his 'hot date' tomorrow.  Got his nails all clipped back so he doesn't hurt Rosie.  He could smell where I had the meat pen does on the table before him.  Oh he's ripping, and ready for her!!!

For the storms that flew past last night.
This tote *had* been by the shed, but you can see if took a mini flying lesson in the wind last night.
This one took a large flying lesson to the horse pasture, in the drainage ditch.

I took a trip to Sheri's to bring her the baby Holland Lop that her daughter had bought from me.  The guys driveway is somewhere in there . . . Howard's Mill was a little high in water, as was the road down by Sheri's.
I was contemplating getting on Tessy for a ride, but I didn't want to dare and mess with the gusting wind.  So maybe first thing in the morning if it's not raining and gusty out.  I can't wait, I'm nervous, scared and thrilled all at once.

Getting stuff done, despite the weather

Before and after shots from where I am working the metal trayed cages out of the barn and change over to newer 24" x 24" and 30" x 30" cages from Tractor Supply and Southern States.

Before, 6 metal trayed cages on the top . . .
After, one metal tray left.  The other three white plastic trayed cages are from the stand that dad built last summer.  The stand has been leaning so I figured to get the cages off it before it failed.
The 24" x 24" cages are shorter than the 30" x 30", and were put together slightly differently to keep them together better.
These are White Gold's broken babies.  Their eyes just opened today.
These are White Gold's solid colored babies.  Now I'm on the crusaide to figure out what color the blackish one is.  It looks almost black Chinchilla.

Vet visit and Baby Mini Rex

Tessy and Phoenix this morning, they were happy to get their grain and fly masks.  I bought them new masks so I can rotate their Farnam's with these Cashell's.
 Munching.
I added a purple ribbon to the top of Tessy's so I can tell her's apart from Phoenix's when I wash them or take them off, like I did tonight for the rain.

I put their fly masks back on after the Coggins and Rabies shots were done so the flies didn't bug them too much.  Both stood like statues for their shot and blood to be drawn.  I'm very proud.  The Vet, it wasn't Joe this time, this was an older man but still from Bath Count Clinic and He absolutely loved Tessy, gorgeous.  He was shocked that I only paid $500 for her.  While it'll be around $500 to get her registered, I'm saving up for that.    Phoenix wasn't so happy with his teeth being done.  Though they weren't bad at all.  He was doped up and the big 'ole file in his mouth to file the teeth.  I had to hold him or I'd have taken a couple pictures.  Phoenix walked back into the feild like a drunk horse.  Kinda humerous.
Later this evening I went back out, once Phoenix wasn't so drunk to take off their fly masks and give them a couple of treats for being so good.  Vet reccomended giving Phoenix a few days before trying to put a bit in his mouth, so I'll work with Tessy first instead of Phoenix.

Just look at that Face!  Such a gorgeous girl.
And she's dappling out in summer coat!

THese are White Gold's babies.  She had kindled 7 but one was a runt and didn't make it, which is common for dwarf breeds, especially on first litters.
The Black otter, blue or lilac otter and the opal

The broken Castor, and both broken Black otters.  I adore the spotting on the last one.

All in all, it's been a productive day.  I have 4 rabbits supposed to be meeting with their new owners tomorrow, and I picked up 2 new cages to start replacing my old cages.  I'm going with 24" x 24" and the 30" x 30" from Tractor Supply and/or Southern States and all my metal trayed cages are eventually going to get replaced.  Hopefully by the end of summer.

Made it to NY!

The trip wasn't a total Rain-out, but you can see the storm as we were trying to outrun it.  Just around the bend . . . .Darn.
I liked the sun on the mountain with the dark storm clouds behind it.  Notice, no green on the trees, majorly depressing.
The grape vines in New York, somewhere After Erie before Buffalo.
 Almost to Buffalo . . .

This one was taken with my cell phone so I could text it to mom, but Allen's gotten scruffy!
Down in the lobby, dad and allen playing pool.  Dad's beat Allen twice already, as of the time of this post.
 Go Dad!
Come on Allen!  Win 1 at least!!!

Horsie update, Miracle and New breeding doe

Well the first ticks and warbles of the season are now out and about.  So on top of Tessy and Phoenix getting Rabies, Coggins and the teeth floating done on Monday, they'll be getting Lyme Vaccines as well.

This is the red spot from the Scarlett Spray on the Warble hole in his leg.  Nasty pulling the Warbles out, so next week, they get Zimecteran Gold for their deworming.
This is from the tick.  It had bit Yesterday afternoon while I was at work and it was exploded already this morning.  Nasty.
The two together, I bought a second set of fly masks so now I just have to modify Tessy's with color ribbon or something so I know which one is hers.

This is the Miracle baby New Zealand.  The mice chewed two of her legs while she was in the nest box, both left fore and left rear.  She's still eating and drinking and she still hops around so as long as she is comfortable we will see what happens.  Going to start looking for a barn cat to keep the mice down so this doesn't happen again.  I lost Far too many babies due to mice chewing on them.

Not the best picture in the world of the New baby.  She's a 6 week old New Zealand White x Californian mix.  I'll be crossing her to Aragorn when she's old enough for 3/4 New Zealand 1/4 Californian babies of color.  I've been researching the cross of New Zealand to Californian and keep hearing they bulk up faster and taste better.  She's got very nice wide shoulders and a solidly wide strong hip.  All solid good components for Meat production.  I'll try it out with her.
On top of it, she's very pretty and sweet.
